Shake Shake Theatre is the creative partnership of Jessica Nicholls (Australia) and Pierre Filliez (Switzerland). Their journey began with their first puppet show, The Story of Mr B, and has since grown into a rich adventure of original productions, European tours, diverse creative workshops, and inspiring collaborations with artists and companies around the world. Along the way, they also got married, built a life together, and became parents to two children.
Both Jess and Pierre come from a strong background in physical theatre, having trained at the renowned Lecoq School in Paris (now Avignon) and with Antonio Fava in Italy. Their passion for masks and puppetry infuses every piece they create. Their shows are also deeply inspired by the timeless worlds of classic fairy tales, drawing on the imagination and symbolism of Andersen, the Brothers Grimm, Perrault, and other traditional storytellers.
Every Shake Shake Theatre production is lovingly handmade, with a commitment to recycling materials and embracing sustainable practices. Themes of ecology, care for nature, and mutual respect lie at the heart of their storytelling, shaping the imaginative and heartfelt worlds they bring to life.
